Voluntary cooperation Hallertau - Au and Mainburg

Drinking water protection and hop growing

Ecozept is committed to improving the quality of drinking water in the Au and Mainburg drinking water protection and catchment areas. The aim is to reduce nitrate discharge into the groundwater and thus ensure the long-term supply of safe drinking water for the population. In both areas, hop cultivation dominates arable land use, as they are located in the world's largest hop-growing region, the Hallertau.

This results in special requirements for management that is gentle on drinking water. Ecozept is working on these challenges within the framework of voluntary cooperations in the Au and Mainburg areas with a total of over 80 farms.
