Project details
Promotion of sustainable food in out-of-home catering in the department "Bouches-du Rhône" (South of France)

Description

  • Project duration: 2021 - 2024
  • Client: PETR Pays d'Arles & MAMP
  • Department(s):
    Supply chains and territories
    Circular economy
    Sustainable catering

Project aim:
Since 2020, the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan region and the Arles area have been jointly implementing a regional food project (PAT) in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. PAT's follow a similar approach to the eco-model regions in Germany, but are not limited to organic food. The two local authorities want to support the region and especially the municipalities in their efforts to offer accessible, local, sustainable and high-quality food in out-of-home catering for all population groups.

Activities of ECOZEPT:
In cooperation with the agency "Declic", Ecozept supports the participating municipalities with technical and methodological expertise to elaborate community-driven development strategies and implement concrete planning projects in the municipalities.

Examples of support for local authorities: implementation of a diagnosis of food waste, supply and monitoring of quality and sustainable products, study of existing solutions for phasing out plastic, study of current and future local sustainable supply for Marseille's catering industry.

Examples of support at local level: creation of a decision-making tool for the creation of a local processing facility for vegetables, training for the transition to a public sector canteen service, support for the "Sustainable Cuisines" Challenge with the implementation of a tool for monitoring sustainable purchases.
