  • Client: Nord Pas de Calais Regional Council
  • Country or region: France
  • Department(s):

    Supply chains and territories
    Sustainable catering

Project aim:
The Nord Pas de Calais Regional Council wished to support the development of a local organic bread supply chain. By developing partnerships between local economic operators, the objectives was to improve the valorization of organic wheat and limit fluctuations in the price paid to producers, to enhance the image of organic farming in the region and to promote local products.

Activities of ECOZEPT:
To this end, Ecozept was commissioned to support the structuring of the supply chain: after carrying out a pre-commercial market study in the bread sector, we mobilized local operators (millers, producer organizations , bakers), organized working groups and coordinated with the operators all the steps leading to the establishment of a collective brand, including specifications, a charter of commitment, a graphic identity and rules. The new local organic bread brand was called Ptinor.

Food Costing and internalisation of Externalities for System Transition

Current food systems don’t reflect the true costs of food. In order to achieve sustainable food systems, the project’s objective is to develop tools, business models and policies to measure and value positive and negative external costs of food. By internalising climate, biodiversity, environmental, social and health externalities, these costs are going to be reflected in market prices and thus in the decision making of actors in food value chains. FOODCoST (Food Costing and internalisation of Externalities for System Transition) will guide business, policy makers and other actors to support the transition towards a sustainable food system. This EU-research project is coordinated by Stichting Wageningen Research (Netherlands).

Developing an organic market report within the framework of the implementation of the Organic Action Plan of the state of Brandenburg (Germany)

The political objective of the state of Brandenburg is to convert 20 % of its agricultural land to organic farming by 2024. In 2021, the share of organic land is about 15 %. This increase requires substantial efforts as well as incentives for agriculture and its downstream/subsequent sectors/processes. Building on a study by AMI in 2022, the organic market report is intended to provide detailed data along the organic value chains in Brandenburg and Berlin and therefore offer guidance for corporate and political action.
